  • • CUSD has initiated the validation process for parent demand data from both John Muir Elementary and Eaton Elementary

    • Mandarin Immersion Alliance (MIA) was established to expand the scope of the initiative, aiming to advocate for a new Mandarin immersion program in CUSD, potentially at John Muir or other district schools.  

    • Due to platform limitations, MIA will no longer update and promote the change.org petition.  All future updates will be posted on this website.

• Dec 2024

Lead advocating parents submitted a formal proposal to CUSD leadership, including the Deputy Superintendent, Superintendent, and Board Members.  The proposal includes two options: 1) introducing Simpflied Chinese at John Muir or 2) establishing a new immersion program featuring simplified Chinese. 

• Nov 2024

Principal Dr. Lashier of John Muir Elementary met with lead advocating parents to discuss the proposal in detail.  The proposal was declined, with resource constraints, many of which are dictated by district policies, as the primary reason. 

• Oct 2024

Lead advocating parents submitted the proposal to John Muir's principal, Dr Lashier, with support from families representing a minimum of 75 enrolled John Muir students.

• Sep 2024

An initiative to include simplified Chinese instruction at John Muir, the current hosting site of CLIP elementary program, began with a change.org petition.
